ABOUT
Dr. Julie Lane believes it takes a village to raise a child. As a single parent Julie relied upon her faith and the supportive assistance of grandparents, friends, and colleagues to raise her two daughters. Julie recognizes this is often the case for families of children with disabilities.
Dr. Lane has served as a special education teacher, program specialist, director of special educaiton, and as a school administrator in public, private, Christian, virtual, and charter schools. Her experience in public education gave her the insights as to how to apply special education law to the school setting. She has taken these experiences and assisted first hand and as a consultant to build special education programning in Christian schools since the early 2000s. Her work across the country and in Christian International Schools has continued to inform her work as she seeks to identify best practices for Christian schools. Her research has continued to inform her work as well. She has conducted research and published research on the topic of Christian schools and special education and leads the field of such research in the U.S.
Dr. Lane realizes a child with disabilities in not just disabled at school and parents often need the support of others as the child’s special needs significantly effects parents and the family unit on a daily basis. Schools often limit their focus to the educational needs of the child, overlooking the child’s gifts, talents, and purpose.
Julie’s goal is to assist both parents and schools in establishing and growing collaborative and consulting teams where partnerships thrive and children grow. She seeks to create school cultures that embrace communities of belonging, inclusion, and dignity.
Dr. Lane seeks to support the education of children while never losing sight of the gifts each child brings to the world. All children have a purpose and away to contribute their communities.
